Nancy Smith, PsyD, Psychologist ans Cofounder of EspacePsy Rive-Sud
Dre Smith does not accept any new client for the moment.
Dr. Smith completed her doctorate studies at the University of Quebec at Montreal in 2013 and then developed an expertise through extensive training (Externships and Core Skills) and supervision in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, a therapeutic approach founded by Dr. Sue Johnson.
During her doctorate studies, she completed her internships at the Louis-Hippolyte Lafontaine University Hospital Center within the outpatient clinic for mood disorders. She acquired good knowledge of the various depressive disorders including bipolar disorder, but also of the presence of a mood disorder in the marital relationship. Already at that time, she was practicing this form of therapy.
As a clinical psychologist, she is particularly interested in the notion of attachment within the couple and how this influences communication between partners, how they manage to express and meet their most legitimate needs in love. She uses her many years of experience, but also her years of continuing education, to help couples mend emotional wounds, regain/rebuild their connection and develop mutual empathy.
In terms of individual therapy, Dr. Smith works with clients who have relationship issues with their spouses, children, friends and colleagues / employers. She also meets individuals struggling with issues of anxiety, depression, coping with anxious and depressed moods, low self-esteem, self-criticism, high demands / perfectionism. She is also interested in understanding with the client the meaning of his / her experiences and how he / she could regain flexibility in order to make changes in his / her life and regain well-being.
Dr. Smith works in French and English.

Julie Martin, PhD, Psychologist
Dr. Julie Martin, psychologist, is a graduate of Concordia University who has been a member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec since 2016. Passionate about human development, she has worked with children and adults of all ages, enabling her to acquire a solid understanding of the unique factors associated with each stage of life. She has held a number of positions in hospital and community settings in the areas of mental health, rehabilitation, and telemedicine.
Dr. Martin now has a private practice in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, where she offers individual psychotherapy to adults 18 years and older for issues related to adjustment difficulties, mood and anxiety problems, burn-out, multiple forms of grief (death, separation, and other significant losses), life cycles, emotion regulation, relationship problems, and self-esteem. She has an inclusive mindset, motivated to create an open and safe space for everyone.
Dr. Martin sees psychotherapy as a collaborative process that brings out authenticity within human connexions. With a warm and engaging approach, she supports clients in their effort to move towards well-being by integrating two major theoretical orientations: cognitive-behavioral and humanistic. Through this lens, she aims to see the person as a whole, considering their strengths and capabilities, as well as their difficulties. In her sessions, her primary interests lie in working with emotions and their physical counterparts, interactions between the mind and body, beliefs about the self and others, as well as value-driven behaviors as they pave the way to more meaningful and wholehearted living. Mindfulness, self-compassion, and experiential exercises are major components of her clinical work. As such, the focus is often on the ‘here-and-now’ while drawing on the past in order to change unhelpful thinking and behavior patterns that no longer serve a purpose.
As a bilingual psychologist, she works equally well in French and English.
